I have a feeling that mutt has problems when things are split into different
lines in .muttrc. I believe only the last one takes effect. Rewrite the above
line as:
mailboxes $MAIL =lih =lugbom
and tell us if the problem still persists.

To read mail in a different mailbox, type 'c', and then enter the name of the
mailbox. '?' gives a list of mailboxes, where you can navigate with the arrow
keys. '=' can be used as a short cut for $HOME/Mail. And, of course, tab
completion works. '!' is a shortcut for $MAIL (usually
/var/spool/mail/$LOGNAME).
If a mail arrives in one of the mailboxes listed in 'mailboxes', then the 'c'
command offers that mailbox as default (in the order in .muttrc).
