First check whether the floppy which you are trying to mount is a dos
formatted floppy (FAT filesystem). If it is a new one, then most
probably it would be so, since many of the new floppies come
pre-formatted with FAT filesystem.

Use the command

mount -tvfat /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy

If you want to format the floppy with the Linux filesystem (ext2), then
use the format command. Once, you have the Linux file system, you can
mount a floppy directly using

mount /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy

I hope it solves your problem__________________________________________________
