Hi,
Even I faced the same problem. Here is what I did:
1. Run the Xconfigurator
2. Open the XF86Config file and go the the section of your Display depth.
Here you reduce the depth by one level.
3. Make sure that the configuration for your video RAM is correct and is
not commented out !!
Try this. I think it should work.
