<yawn> This news is two year old. Such a bug does exist in Pentium CPUs.
Intel did publish work arounds in *BSDs in binary only form first.
Subsequently, Linux guys reverse engineered the work around which I 
remember was a little smarter. I don't remember the actual details.

Bottomline: every multi user OS worth its salt has a work around for this
bug.
