Hello Everybody,

I am experiencing a strange problem with X-windows on Redhat Linux
6.1. Previously I had

installed Linux on a 450MB harddisk partition. Although everything was
working fine, I could

not use all the features due to lack of disk space. So, I removed all
my partitions and

reinstalled Linux (using official REDHAT CD) on 1GB partition. The
installation went

smoothly as before. But, my X-windows is giving a lot of problems. It
has become

untolerable slow(Earlier it was quite fast). The command-prompt mode
is working absolutely

fine.

Whenever I start the X-server, it takes a very long time to come up.
I also get a warning

message window with the following message

Panel
No response to the Save Yourself Command. The Program may be slow,
stopped or broken.

You may wait for it to respond or remove it.

Along with the message, I also get two command buttons labelled
REMOVE PROGRAM and CANCEL.

If I choose CANCEL the window appears after some time(the system
operation is still very

slow).

The same window comes again with the heading --- gmp

I have tried re-installing Linux. But the problem continues.
I have Pentium 166MMX system with 16MB RAM (Although it is less, the
system was working just

fine earlier). My Display Card is Cirrus Logic(which is autodetected)
and monitor is LG 20i.

(i have selected the lowest settings 800 * 600).

I feel it may be a bug in Linux. Please help me at the earliest
since the problem is

hampering my development schedule.

Hoping for a positive reply.
