Rohit saw fit to inform me that:
>Just a small doubt. When we mention the ownership in /etc/fstab for the
>CD drive, the what is it? Is it the gruoup ID?

The group ID and user ID are specified by uid= or gid= for specific group or users.
Isn't it.

In any case, >when one creates a user in SUSE [did you create your userid using
>useradd? Do NOT do it.. use graphical user-manager from KDE instead]

I created the user using Yast and there you can specify the groups you belong to.
In my case user rajesh belongs to group users. Primary group is users.

>there you can specify which group one is member of and which one one
>is not a member of. See if you are a member of group 'users' or may
>be you would like to grant access to 'all' in that line of /etc/fstab.

I even used KDE user manager as per your suggestion, but users group is the primary
group there tooI am still unable to mount CD in login rajesh.

I have not checked floppy access since most of the time I use CD's :-)
But if CD is not mounting than floppy also will not mount.

It is a pity that the commands in /etc/fstab in one distribution are not working in
another distribution. In redhat it worked, in SuSe it's all together a different
story..... sobing...........
How will linux prosper like this ?
