Hello,

I am using Redhat 6.1 and am facing problems connecting to the
internet. I have tried RP3 (under GNOME), kppp3,and usenet also. I
have a VSNL account. I have specified the primary and secondary DNS
also (202.54.1.18 & 202.54.1.30). I have specified the DNS name as
bgl.vsnl. After dialing, the connection gets established, but when I
click on the Netscape navigator button I get the following message:

 Warning: Host unreachable

Perhaps there is a problem with your name server? If your site must
use a non-root name server, your will need to set $SOCK_NS environment
variable to point at appropriate name server. It may(or may not) be
necessary to set this variable or the SOCKS host preference, to the IP
address of the host in question rather than it's name. Consult your
system administrator.

What should be the DNS name? Is it required to create and set the
SOCK_NS environment var.? Sometimes the DNS is mentioned as optional
only. I tried pinging to the DNS IP addresses specified above and it
pings the system correctly. I just cannot understand what could be
wrong.

Please help at the earliest
Madhesh
