Hello all,
I tried a few tests last night and here are the observations:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
test # relay host nameserver result
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 iisxox iisxox success
2 mantra mantra failure; deferred: host name lookup failure
3 mantra ip mantra failure; mail did not reach destination
4 iisxox mantra success
5 mantra iisxox failure; deferred: host name lookup failure
------------------------------------------------------------------------
(iisxox is our company mail server; also a Linux box:)
So, it looks like there's no problem with my config. sendmail is able to
resolve names through my /etc/hosts and /etc/resolv.conf. However, it is
unable to use the Mantra mail server to relay the queued mail. Looks
like something broke at Mantra's end. But why is it that I can send mail
through my mail client by pointing it to Mantra but not through my local
sendmail? sendmail gurus please enlighten us! :-)
Regards,
Manu.
