It could be used anywhere as long as you have the radio frequencies it
uses (2.4 GHz) are free. The card is available at many e-tailers (search
cnet for the list of vendors).

I just realized yesterday that the card has pretty bad interactive performance
characteristics. Basically a ping between the two ends takes 10ms. On a 10
Mbps lan, that's 0.6ms. So if you run netscape, which requires a lot of
exchanges, the latency is quite noticable. However the throughput is still
good. So running X on that link may not be very good, but xterms are 
still ok.
