Still the problem remains, this time it is sending 8 pkts some time !!!!

Well, if you want exactly 5 packets to be sent,increase the waitsec to 3.
By using -w2, you will be terminating the ping process after 2 seconds and
this is done irrespective of whether the remote m/c is up or not.
