This V42BIS is probably part of the "connect" response that the
modem spews out. Normally you or chatscript should not see it, but if the
modem is setup for "extended responses", then it will respond the
connection status details during the connect notification. Try minimizing
the modem verbosity by putting an X2 or X1 somewhere in your init string
in chatscript.
