Yep, that worked.  BTW, this mail was posted several hours ago, and
reached the list ~after~ I'd solved the problem ;)

Another thing - after a bad install, it's wise to start with a clean
directory tree (best done by moving the older version to a different
directory and untarring the code again)

'a' it was :)  8.10.0 is being tested now - I'll roll it out on
kcircle.com after I'm satisfied I can run it properly.
