Hi,
Does the machine A has an "Intel EtherExpress pro" ethernet card by
any chance. A lot of new Compaq machines in HSS have similar problems
similar to yours. Any two machines (running Redhat 6.1) having this
card, and on the same subnet just cannot ping each other, but can ping
any windows machine.
The same two machines, when booted into windows, do *not* exhibit this
problem, so this is almost certainly a problem with the EtherExpress
device driver code in Linux.
BTW Naresh, these machines are 550 MHz PIII's, so I'm sure load is not
an issue.
Hope that provides some clues,
Regards,
Lokesh.
