I'm not sure about B'bay/Pune, but in Bangalore you can get CheapBytes
or LinuxMall cds of most distros at almost any large Bookstore. You
could also go to http://www.gtcdrom.com. They cost about Rs 199/-.

IMHO, the differences between distros to a newbie are mainly in
installation and package management. SuSE 6.3 is a pretty good distro.
I'd suggest you get familiar with the intricacies of screwing _it_ up
before moving to another. ;-)

Once you're comfortable with one, you could better appreciate the
differences. Debian is a good distro for intermediate to experienced
users (Or so Khader tells us, I've not used it myself).
