hi robin,

i wasn't really interested in how the adbar code could be ported to
linux.that would belong to LIP.i'm mainly interested in running it on top of
wine,or any other emulator for win.
but,now that such a question has been raised, what if someone uses adbar to
connect to the net,and runs a proxy server,to connect the other clients on
the lan.that will again defeat the purpose of the adbar.
also, can the port thru which the ads stream in,be blocked?btw, which port
does it use?
and as mrinal said, what'll stop you from using lynx on win.
and i don't know the semantics of multiple monitors in win98.but i think
that again defeats the purported raison d'etre of the adbar.
there simply are too many permutations for caltiger to take care of.they
would be better off just trying to popularise their product.anyway, the
advertisers won't have any way of determining how many people actually see
their ads.and if the advertisers really expect any clickthrus, their screws
must be a little loose.i,personally, have never clicked on an ad ever.even
the very first time that i browsed,i resisted the urge.tha's enuff for now.
please ponder on the second line of this post ;-).

g'night/whatever,
sitaram shastri.
