Throw your mouse out of the window and see it crash. Then replace it... thou's wish shalt be done. Amen. Check gpm command that you are giving at the startup. But befoer that, plug the mouse in some other machine [Check for both Linux and Windows]. Another thing, guys, I am looking for methods of shutting down a machine when in trouble. And I could really use help/links/mails on the topics listed below. When a machine is hung, what I can do is.. 0. Press reset button. 1. Press ctrl-alt-del to reboot [if nothing responds] 2. Telnet/ftp to the machine, if it is on network and run a shell from there, trying to reboot it or kill the process. What I need help about is 1. Shutting down/unmounting filesystems etc using the mouse-clicks if mouse is the only device that is active [network/keyboard gone] 2. Using keyboard [even if I can not see the output] by sending kernel directly [what are the keys ctrl-alt-S[ync]/U[nmount]/B[oot] ?] Hints/sermons/sweets and confectionary welcome.
