I don't think that's the right conclusion Rohit. I think Thaths (or was
it Arun ?) had given the right reason couple of days back. LILO needs
to be know how to load the boot code from your boot partition in order
to load Linux. If LILO doesn't understand ReiserFS, it obviously
wouldn't know how to handle data in that partition..
