Hi guys,
Thanks for all your response. I sorted out my sound and text in
gnome/kde terminal problem but in a round about way. I had a problem wherein
my system wouldnot boot with the error that unable to mount filesystem on
block 8 [I think it was my / partition]. I reloaded RHL 6.1,ran
Xconfigurator which did not identify my monitor[microtech 1995] but did
identify my SiS6326 card. I changed the horz and vertical settings and was
able to load X with the no_accel comment and depth of 32 for the display
settings. I am able to configure sound and see the text in the X-terminal. I
have a new problem. I was unable to configure my D-link internal modem, but
my external modem is working fine. I am able to connect to my ISP [Satyam],
but have not yet got around to setting up Netscape and mail. I am trying the
archives and manuals to sort this out. If any of you can help me in this it
will be fine.
