It won't check for new mail as soon as you enter mutt. Press `c', and
it will let you type the name of a folder to `c'hange to. If there is
new mail in any one of those folders, then it'll show the name of that
folder, and you just have to press enter to go to that folder. You can
also press space (after pressing `c') to cycle through the list of
folders where new mail has arrived.
