Don't blame the card. The quality of the sound output depends mostly on the external amplifiers and the speakers. I have an OPLSAx and it sounds better than my friend's Creative soundblaster because the amplifiers (that I designed) and the speakers (philips 50W RMS...mind you not the meaningless PMPO... drivers) are extremely good. Desktop speakers will always squeak, notwithstanding the claims of it's manufacturer. The card sounds good in Linux too. Vilas Kumar C > Ouch.
