Right. Do not forget a tech-support cheque favouring the list. The server runs on electricity and costs money, you know? Anyway, for smaller problems, a kiddish workaround really works. First shots..I tried my GVC 66.3KBPS modem last night. Just like, .. tried. no tinkering with files, no nothing. Least hassles. Just fire up. kppp - no response. kppp - no response. wvdial - instant death after connection. minicom - Works like a charm. Like for me, I was damn lucky that something worked in time. I will sort out the problem and tell the results. Another thing about kernel and reiserfs. The stock kernel 2.2.13 seems not to have support for ReiserFS. It is supported in SuSE Linux's kernel [SuSE 6.3 stock] it seems. Which I am going to install tonight. I did not find this support in 'make menuconfig' in SuSE and hence after booting the machine, / could not be mounted. Of course my /boot is an ext2. Kernel size smaller by 14% for a customized kernel. Yahoo.
