I did not find YMF724 driver in version of OSS I have. I do not remember
version correctly. But the driver was not there...

 I am sure I have made this  card Ensoniq under OSS. In fact earlier I set
it to ISA Soundblaster pro or something like that, 8 bit basically. I made
a posting on the list complaining the quality of the sound. Later I
realised the mistake and emulated as 16 bit card and then it worked damn
fine...

 I will mail you personally my experiences repeated, just to confirm that.
I hope you don't mind it. (Also I am not subscribed to the list at my home
address)

I also have the driver you sent to me, but I did not have time to look
into it. Really sorry for that but was too busy...
