Hi,

Today I installed oracle. I ran all the scripts during installation( orainstall.sh,
root.sh etc. ).
Only during execution of linux.sh I got the error gmake - command not found. Thinking
that gmake
is the same as make I just copied the make file to gmake and then executed the script
linux.sh.
It executed properly and at the end I got the message oracle linked (something like
that).

Then I applied the 6MB patch. The problem here is every time I execute any oracle
binary I
get the error permission denied. But if I type say

bash dbassist rather than simple dbassist it works. The same thing happens when the
scripts are
executed. In case of linux.sh it gave message
/u01/app/products/oracle/<version>/bin/svrmgrl : permission denied.

After running dbassist and selecting create database, custom and then next next etc. I
reached the
last screen where it actually creates this database. This process is supposed to take
more than
an hour but here in 1 minute I got the message database created blah blah.!!!

Now if I try to run svrmgrl, I get the following error:

<snap>
oracle@rajesh:/u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.5/bin > ./svrmgrl
bash: ./svrmgrl: Permission denied
oracle@rajesh:/u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.5/bin > bash svrmgrl
svrmgrl: svrmgrl: cannot execute binary file
<snap>

Sorry for the long mail. Hoping that I have made my problem clear.

Can any kind soul who is using Oracle on linux help me please on this. I will be
greatful.

Thanks in advance.
