Even in the Linux world , certain kinds of NDA may not be particularly
out of place. Intel had even the top guns sworn to
secrecy about Itanium. What about Transmeta, and the fact
that anyone associated with the company in any manner
had to be bound to an oath of silence (incl Linus , who was
quietly working on a version for Crusoe)? For that matter,
SGI themselves could not say anything about the IA64
work they were doing , could they?
A pre-release NDA may be OK if the company wants to
keep things under wraps till the appropriate time. However, if
it is the Yamaha 724 kinda of NDA , no way , Jose!
