Hi,

While installing Oracle I came across a strange problem. I had set all the enviornment
variables in.profile of user oracle. Before going into X if I type env | grep oracle,
I got the correct values
as specified by me in the .profile.

However when I started X (KDE) and when in konsole(kde console) I type env to my
surprise I
the oracle environment variables were pointing to the users (ie. oracle ) home
directory. I had
to start fvwm2 and in that xterm gave me proper environment variables.

eg. : if my enviornment variable ORACLE_HOME=/u01/apps/oracle/product/8.1.5 in
.profile used to change to ORACLE_HOME=/opt/oracle/product/8.1.5.

Why this change in environment variables in kde console ? Strange isn't it ?

Regards.
