Hi All!

I want to set up a Cache-only nameserver in my Linux machine (RedHat
6.1) which I routinely connect to internet through the PPP (via an VSNL
account), so that I reduce the load on my PPP connection. I am using
bind-8's named daemon. I have followed exactly the procedures in
HOW-TO's i.e. setting up an Class-C IP address for my machine and
designating it as a nameserver. When I am off-line, it works, i.e. I am
able to run NSLOOKUP and get desired result. But when the connection
(ppp) is up, my nameserver does not seem to work. I have set up a
artificial (read bogus) IP address zone in the named.conf file, and when
I am online, the nameserver does not find that bogus machine.

Is there any caveats? What should actually be done. Should my local
namesrver only be started when I go online? At present, my nameserver
runs at boot time.
