Hello,

 APACHE is basically a web server that you can use for
your intranet publishing purposes.  (it is not meant
to be a proxy server).

  If proxy is the lone thing you want, then go
straight ahead for squid and configure the
/etc/squid.conf file.  If you are also interested in
the intranet publishing part, then go for apache also.
