Just as a warning to prospective buyers. I had
a lot of probs with a Mercury Kobian Motherboard
based on a Via Chipset for Socket 370/Slot 1 CPUs.

The board works beautifully with Linux in text mode
and sndconfig detects the on-board CMI8738 Sound Chip
and configures it automatically.

The prob is that as soon as you startx, the system freezes solid.
Checked with different AGP cards (Trident, SiS etc),
as well as on different systems with the same make of motherboard.
The prob goes away if you use a PCI video card.

A search on the net revealed that some early Via chipsets
had AGP probs, and looks like they dumped those on us
Bharatvasis.

The other prob is that it has a proprietary connector on the MB
for the PS/2 and USB ports, which is not available , making
them unusable.

Finally , had to pay more and exchange for an Intel ZX
chipset MB.
