Can U please specify the kernel UR using ?  If UR using kernel v2.2.x.
then U should get the 'hedrick' patches from the kernel site
http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/hedrick/ and apply the 
same against the source tree.  Re-compile after enabling Block Devices/
Generic PCI IDE chip-set support /Generic PCI bus-master DMA support/
VIA chip-set support.  Pass on the parameter 'idebus=33' via /etc/
lilo.conf.  Enable DMA support by calling 'hdparm -d1 -c1 /dev/<hard-
disk drive>' via the startup scripts during boot.
