I *think* this might be something to do with the fact that the unix
(linux?) passwords include some sort of timestamp to ensure that a user
with the same username and password doesn't end up with the same
encrypted password each time.
i.e. if user foo sets password bar at 10:00 am and then changes it , and
then sets it back to bar at 11:00 am it shouldn't look the same when
encrypted. am i right about this ? I guess the best way to check would
be to dig in the source code of pam...
