Don't make your .fetchmailrc readable to others.  Simple as that.

$ ls -l .fetchmailrc
-rwx--x--- 1 sureshr sureshr    166 Jun  1  21:22       .fetchmailrc

If somebody knows your login's password, you're screwed anyway :)
