You are in luck. The news.vsnl.net.in server was down for 3 days and woke
up this evening. Use rtin to read your news, as this is much much faster
than pine for reading news (though lacks user configurable features) An
even better option (specially if you have a dialup connection) would be to
install leafnode and run fetchnews when you go on the net. Leafnode is a
small news server. You only need to modify /etc/leafnode/config . For rtin
you need to copy/usr/doc/tin/tin.defaults to /etc/tin/tin.defaults and
edit it.

To all the list: Can anyone give me names of some more fast open news
servers which allow posting. The ones I got doing a Yahoo search are not
good. Till now news.vsnl seems to be the best.
