Unless telnetd is running, he wouldn't get the Connected message - so
the problem certainly isn't in inetd.conf. More likely to be related to DNS
(The telnet daemon trying to reverse lookup the connecting machine). Either
set up DNS or put entries for all machines on your LAN in your /etc/hosts
file.
