Hi there, I have installed the PCQ RH6.2 and am facing a peculiar problem. My PC, a pentium 200 with 64 MB RAM and GVC 33600 model, is a desktop however during install I selected custom and installed everything. I use gnome. I logged in as root and through control panel configured the modem COM2 (/dev/ttyS1) with the modem tool. Next I configured the ppp interface with netcfg. I configured kppp. I did not add nor modify any scripts. All parameters selected are fine and I am able to connect to VSNL when I log in as root into X. Now when I try to use the same as a regular user I face the following problem. I click on kppp in the Start Menus - Kppp menus. It asks me for the root password. Now there is some disk activity however then it stops and kppp does not show up at all. Running "ps aux" shows it is already running. If I keep on repeating the above a number of times with the same effect and then run "ps aux" it shows that kppp is running that many times. I have to always kill all these pid's explicitly. So I decided to open an Xterm and "su root" and run "kppp &". Now kppp starts up and I am able to connect to VSNL. However I get the following error message in the xterm "Couldn't find interface ppp0: No such device". Even though this message is displayed the connection works fine without problems. I would be obliged if any one could help solve this problem. thanks in advance.
