didnt quite work. ssh disappeared, then i just did
apt-get install task-helix-gnome- task-helix-core- ssh to reinstall ssh
and guess what ? i had gnome 1.2 working too ! [at least i hope it was
gnome 1.2]. but i couldnt figure out how to have more than 1 workspace
is that a prob with 1.2 ?
