So your modem drops carrier. Look in /var/log/messages and post what
error messages caused this.
Before that, check for noise on your phone line, a badly connected modem,
a dodgy connection to your ISP (vsnl can be _very_ dodgy) etc etc.
Nothing different from modem trouble on windows - only linux gives you
_far_ more info about what's wrong :)
