Biju,
With Hanish's help I was able to understand the basics of configuring TV out -
generate or choose an existing modeline in
XF86Config for the discrete values of HSync and VSync and suitable aspect ratio and
resolution as per TV specs.- .The above
method works with older cards like Cirrus Logic.Problem is that I think the ATI card
is too sophisticated (or designed only
for Windows?) for this.Maybe one can override the display card BIOS checking for TV
and configuring itself by booting into
Linux using LOADLIN.I want to try a Matrox card next.Maybe the method will work for
that. The ATI All in Wonder Pro card also
could not be configured for TV out. When I boot into text mode I do get a display on
the TV but on swithing back from X the
orientation and colours of the image become bizzare. In X all I have managed to get is
a bright white flickering bar on the TV
and sometimes diagonal lines too.I used the GATOS drivers to get the TV tuner working
without any problem so I could click a
button to scan and store the channels and it was even possible to make the TV image to
appear as a dynamically changing
wallpaper in KDE.
Regards,
Dayalan
