Hello, You can try the latest kernel. When I tried with RHL 6.0(kernel 2.2.9) it didn't autodetect. After installing ALSA the sound card worked okay for CDAUDIO, but I really don't know why mp3 wasn't playing(there was some error while writing to the sound device.. so I guess it was some interface problem). Later on when I installed Mandrake 7.0 (which comes with kernel 2.2.14) the card was autodetected and I didn't have to do any kind of extra setup. You can try ALSA (which is suppoesed to be supporting ESS Solo 1), but I will recommend to get hold of a newer kernel(somewhere I have read that after 2.2.12 ESS Solo 1 is fully supported).
