if your sytem is connected to a network you need to see that there is an entry
in the dns your network is using that corresponds to your machines ip.you enter
the hostname in the file /etc/HOSTNAME and in the file hosts you can give have
entries corresponding to 127.0.0.1 (loopback) your machine ip and any other ips
you look up often.when you say order hosts , dns it means you are consulting
the hosts file first then dns.dns service is provided by named.resolv.conf
contains the list of nameservers your machine can consult.
please tell me more about the dns related error message in linuxconf.
BTW I have only been using linux for a few months though so some of the more
experienced people may correct me if I am wrong.
