If you've got the install CD, you have many options, creata a boot 
disk, create a rescue disk, you can also use it to boot the system, 
at boot  prompt type rescue. One of the better rescue disks is 
"tomsbtrt" - http://www.toms.net/rb/. 

There is an other utility called explore2fs,  
http://uranus.it.swin.edu.au/~jn/linux/explore2fs.htm, whihh you 
could use. 

You should'nt be booting from the floppy anyway, use LiLO or grub.
