Hi,
I tried to download the latest kernel RPMs from redhats & its mirror
sites. But every time I got the md5checksum errors when I check the
downloaded RPMs. Ultimately, I downloaded the latest stable version of
kernel ie. 2.2.16.tar and install it in my linux box according to "The
Linux Kernel HOWTO" in www.redhat.com. Everything is running fine. I am
able to boot with new kernel image & also with the old one. But when I use
the rpm -q kernel kernel-headers etc, I got the old version details and
when I use uname -r It shows the current version of kernel which I
configured and installed. Is it because of not installing the kernel from
RPM packages that's why it's not able to update the database? Please let me
know what could be the reason. And also please advise me if I may have to
do more with kernel updation.

Waiting for your help../
