This submission is for question 9.2 on your i810 page [1]. Here is what
the agpgart.o module does:

It lets the graphics controller view virtually contiguous, but
physically scattered pages as a contiguous piece of RAM. The
OS is responsible for setting up an "aperture" and then letting
hardware know about the mapping. You can think of it as an MMU
for the graphics controller.
