Dr Bhyrava Prasad's article is meant for a new user. Anyway, to
connect to the internet, use kppp, or the Gnome dialer. They are all
accessible from the start menu. Or download wvdial and its GUI
frontend, kwvdial. It is intuitive(in the MS Dial up Networking way).
edit /etc/resolv.conf and put
search [your_nameserver]
nameserver [ip_address_of_primary_nameserver[
nameserver [ip_add_of_secondary_nameserver]
Connect and browse.
There is another good article at http://pcquest.com/linux called
linux on desktop or something similar.
Other resources for connecting at http://linuxnewbie.org
