I can surely understand why your mails got lost after all that change
you went through :-)
Well, for any gnus related questions, the best place to ask is that
gnus newsgroup gnu.emacs.gnus . ANd I am sure kai is going to answer
to your question.
Well I would do a G f to browse the folder, select all by doing a M P
b and then B r to respool.
BTW have you looked at the Gnus FAQ ? It is installed when you install
gnus.
That contains answer to the same question.
