i think, full installation is itself said to be of 1.1GB. With larger
cluster size, even more.

one possibility you can explore is that the 1.2GB hard disk got
exhausted, hence such abnormal termination.

try installing in part. preferably custom, leaving gnome, kde. so that
less space is required.
