well in the particular situation i think u are right, but generally
speaking,
the order of installaion does not make any difference, since i just finished
doing 4 distros of linux, win98, win2k server and pro in the same machine.
i went this way (had 10 gb hdd)
booted using suse linux, entered console (ctrl+f2)
using fdisk, created
hda1 800MB fat32 for Win98
hda2 <hda5, 6, 7, 8, 9,10,11,12,13,14,15>
hda5 20mb /boot for RH6.2
hda6 20mb /boot for Mandrake 7
hda7 20mb /boot for Debian (Potato Frozen)
hda8 20mb /boot for Suse
hda9 136mb swap (common)
hda10 1.8Gb for / of Suse
hda11 1.6Gb for / of RH6.2
hda12 1.5 gb for / of Mandrake 7.0
hda13 1 gb for / of Deb
hda14 1.5gb NTFS for 2K Server
hda15 1.5gb FAT32 for 2K Professional
and proceeded to install suse through guided install.
choose to mount hda 8,9,10 to Suse use
completed all config, then went to do
RH, Mandrake, Deb, then win98,
Win2K Pro, Win2K Server ..
win98 wrote the mbr over, which was complimented
by win2k again.
I used dosutils loadlin and kernel linux from deb 1/4 CD
to enter into (ie boot and mount) suse linux root
from where, i edited lilo to incorporate all
linux into lilo and wrote this to /hda2 boot sector,
copied this boot sector and put into NT folder
added this to boot.ini in 2K
and have lilo load from win2k boot menu.
