        I meant linux fdisk (since AFAIR the mail was about installing w2k
on a box already having linux installation.)

        No, It is the active partition which is booted by default (at
least on my BIOS). I earlier had win98/win2k installed on mbr and had the
first linux partition active. And it loaded LILO from where I used to
divert to dos if needed. Of course the active partition will boot only if
it is one of the primary ones and not the extended. (correct me)
