You haven't stated your problem clearly. Can you be a bit more
explicit ? Are you redirecting mails from these mailboxes to your
vsnl account ? (I mean the LIH list mail)

Do you need to fetch the mail from your vsnl mailbox only or from
other mailboxes also ? In the latter case, you should have POP/IMAP
access on your other addresses.

The biff on your local machine ?? (How would it know ?) - Or is
it that you can see the mails when you use view your vsnl.com
mailbox through the web ?
