hi,
i am trying to setup a dialin server using a gvc
external 56kmodems. there are a number of problems
which i am facing.
I am using mgetty at the linux box(mandrake7.1). If i
connect th modems on a intercom(intranet phone line) i
am able to dial
up thru the win box into the linux server, i am able
to connects.
but if i connect thru an external phone line(DOT) the
modems keep on talking to each other and the login
prompt does not come, the modems are not
able to recognize each other. do i need to change some
parameter in mgetty.
Secondly, i always have a connect of 33.6 , whereas
the modems are 56K. i changed the speed in
mgetty.config but it didnt help. Is it possible that
the intranet phone line can only support a speed of
33.6K.
Thirdly, how is that, when i use wvdial the dialing of
the numbers is faster(tone dialing) but thru kpp the
tones generated are slower(more time taking). Can the
speed of generation of tones can be changed.
enlightened souls please help.
