Hi Shridhar,

i could not understand why you need to know about hindi keyboard ( ma ta
ja la na is hindi equivalent of QWERTY ) to develop a phonetic font?

phonetic means you press k and get ka in hindi, so the user will be
using qwerty keyboard.

if that helps, visit www.bharatbhasha.org who is having the most popular
hindi (ok, devnagari/ marathi) font shusha.ttf, which is free. and it is
phonetic.

they are also having sandhu for punjabi (ok, gurumukhi), shyamal for
bengali (not good enough), vakil for gujarati (purrfect), shiv for
marathi, when i last visited. their readme.txt file is enclosed.

they also have keyboards file. but this is word doc file so i could not
check as my box is running win san MSoffice. it is a 203KB file. i can
send it to you if you need it.

for that matter, go to any hindi newspaper site and you will get its
font for free.

you want to develop something which is already available. i hope you are
having some additional idea about that.

i am personally interested in indian language fonts to be used in my
website. keep me posted about your reseach.

regards.
